we see a kaleidoscope of real and subliminal images. swans in a pond.
a float in a communion parade. a young man punching his reflection in a mirror. a man falls from a window. swans again. snow falls on evergreens. an aerial shot of new jersey’s industrial parks like a family of giacommetti sculptures standing in the snow belching smoke. peace. violence. juxtaposing beautiful images with an undercurrent of rage and uncontrolled excitement, le mis popote explores situations, events and feelings that suggest the conflicts and chaos inherent in mankind. mental images, childhood memories and emotions are revealed as dreams or nightmares. the soundtrack and bramsen’s original poetry synthetically generated as voice-over, work to construct a sense of honesty in the subconscious. le mis popote is frantic, plot-less and uncommon. shot on 16mm and dv with inter-cut material drawn from old film and video archives. all the archival footage including the brief segments of tommy lee jones, joe pesci, oliver stone, martin scorsese and robert de niro are copyrighted and owned by pacific street films
